Iconic early Keiichi Tanaka Homme / Rei Kawakubo transitional piece from AW1996. Keiichi Tanaka was hired in 1994 to start the transition of menswear design responsibilities away from Rei Kawakubo, whose Comme des Garcons universe was taking off at unforeseen levels. This transitional phase created the opportunity for some inventive and unique garments co-designed by two CDG greats. Featuring Rei’s iconic ‘mode’ style, marked by big black garments in flowing materials, combined with Tanaka’s groundbreaking hybrid style, here combining a classic car coat with a zippered driving jacket.
